Do I need a referral?A referral is not required to see a psychologist. However, there are various referral options available that may provide a rebate to cover some of the costs associated with your sessions.
-
How much does it cost? The Australian Psychological Society (APS) 2023-2024 recommended standard fee is $300. As this is a recommendation only, it is at the discretion of the individual psychologist to set their own fee. Our fees are outlined below. The fee for initial and subsequent sessions is $240, with each session lasting approximately 50 minutes. Students and Health Care Card holders may be eligible for a discount, please discuss this with us.

Am I eligible for a rebate? There are various referral options available that may provide a rebate that may assist in the cost of your session(s). We have outlined some of the options below. If you are unsure which option is best suited for you or an option is not listed, please contact us and we will be happy to assist in your enquiry. Mental Health Treatment Plan under the Medicare Better Access Initiative Medicare rebates are available for eligible clients who are referred with a Referral Letter and a Mental Health Treatment Plan via a GP or Psychiatrist. This provides a rebate for up to 10 consults per calendar year. Eligible clients will receive a rebate of $137.05 ($141.85 from the 1st July 2024) for each session once the session fee is paid in full. For more information, please refer to the Medicare website. Private Referrals and Private Health Funds No referral is required from a GP or medical professional if a client chooses to engage in our services privately. However, you would not be eligible for the Medicare rebate. In addition, there is no limit to the number of sessions available to you. If you have a Private Health Fund you may have access to rebates for psychological services. As each health fund is different and policies can vary, please contact them directly to ascertain your eligibility and rebate amount. We will provide you with a receipt once payment has been made in full to provide to your health fund. *Please note that you are not able to claim both Medicare and Private Health Fund rebates for the same session.
